NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority) has drafted the NYStretch Code-Energy 2018 - a voluntary, locally adoptable stretch energy code. It is the latest stretch energy code for New York buildings and is roughly 25% more efficient than the residential provisions of the IECC - 2018 (International Energy Conservation Code) and roughly 18% more efficient than the commercial provision of ASHRAE 90.1-2016 (The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers).
Local Law 32 of 2018 requires New York City to adopt the NYSERDA NYStretch Code-Energy 2018 as the base Code for the 2019 NYC Energy Conservation Code.
With the draft complete, NYSERDA is now seeking feedback from architects, engineers, building professionals, and local government officials on the new Stretch Energy Code.
