The NYC Housing Authority has undertaken a $64 million program to replace existing Hot Water Storage Tanks with new, energy-saving instantaneous hot water heaters. P Wolfe Consultants is proud to have been chosen as the DOB Expediter for this major project.
This improvement program is installing 560 of the new Hot Water Heater systems in NYCHA Buildings throughout the city.
The new heating systems are more efficient and more environmentally friendly than the previous systems. According to estimates by New York Power Authority, once all of NYCHA's new heaters are installed, there will be a carbon dioxide reduction of more than 53 million pounds per year!
From an expediting standpoint, this project presented several challenges:
- Creating a Template Application: P. wolfe developed a template application and pre-reviewed it with the DOB Plumbing
Division prior to filing to ensure correctness and a problem-free signoff process.
- Enforcing Uniformity of Filings: P. Wolfe created a system of application preparation and filing which ensured uniform quality and consistency, an essential consideration since the applications are filed in all Boroughs against over 500 addresses.
- Tracking Jobs to Completion/Signoff: P. Wolfe’s sophisticated database system and efficient Project Managers ensured that each application was followed-through to Signoff.
Through the Hot Water Heater Replacement Project, P. Wolfe has demonstrated the ability to undertake efficient, high-volume project tracking and execution. Inspired by the efficiency of the system being installed, we sought to deliver the same efficiency of service to our client DMJM+Harris, and to the NYC Housing Authority and its residents.
