New Safety Registration Numbers:
Beginning October 1, 2009, individuals and organizations performing or supervising certain construction projects, including new building and demolition jobs, will be required to have a new Safety Registration Number. The Department is currently accepting applications for Safety Registration Numbers.
This new requirement applies to people or entities conducting the following work:
-
New Buildings
-
Vertical or horizontal alterations that add more than 25% to an existing building’s floor area
-
Alterations adding three or more stories to an existing building
-
Alterations or demolitions of more than 50% of an existing building’s floor area
-
Alterations removing one or more floors of an existing structure
-
Demolitions
-
Excavations, foundations or superstructures (including steel structures), in which 2,000 cubic yards or more of concrete is being placed
Those conducting the work listed above must file for a Safety Registration Number even if they already have a tracking number. To secure a Safety Registration Number, applicants must file an LIC7 with the Department.
To ensure individuals and organizations have adequate time to obtain the new Safety Registration Number, the Department began issuing numbers in the Spring. There are three categories that fall within Safety Registration Numbers:
-
Construction (not required for General Contractors building 1-, 2- or 3-family homes)
-
Demolition
-
Concrete
Registration and renewal fee will be $80 per category and will be valid for 3 years.
