    E-Filing Update-1

The new E-filing procedures are an extension of the existing Department of Buildings online system for processing of select permit applications. In addition to the preparation of documents for new applications the system also allows select no-change permit renewals to be processed (eRenewal) and electrical permit applications to be submitted. Additional permit types will be added to the system in the future.

    P. Wolfe can advise you of the filing procedures for your DOB application.

    New NYC Construction Codes Update-1

The New NYC Construction Codes are an important achievement for the Buildings Department and New York City: they mark the first comprehensive overhaul of the City’s Building Code in nearly 40 years. These Codes respond to many of our 21st century safety, construction and environmental concerns, and are more user-friendly for the professionals building our City’s very foundation. Certain administrative provisions, enforcement provisions and construction safeguards under the New NYC Construction Codes will go into effect on July 1, 2008.

    Special Inspections

Under the New NYC Construction Codes, Special Inspections replace Controlled Inspections for all construction projects filed on or after July 1, 2008. Special Inspections may only be performed by Special Inspectors working for a Buildings Department-approved Special Inspection Agency. Special Inspections are similar in scope to Controlled Inspections, with a number of additions, and they are defined in Chapter 17 of the 2008 Building Code and the Department’s Special Inspections Rule.
