Final Inspection Report Deadline Reminder

Effective October 1, 2009 any architect or engineer conducting a final inspection must submit a final inspection report to the Buildings Department within 30 days of the final inspection. This requirement allows the Department to better monitor the quality and standard of work performed on projects that don’t require a new or revised Certificate of Occupancy.

In their final inspection report, the architect or engineer must attest that the work complies with:

• Approved Plans
• The Building Code
• Any Applicable Laws and Rules

New standpipe and sprinkler piping laws go into effect in 2010. Building owners and Contractors must be sure their properties and projects comply with these new local laws.

Contractor Insurance

As of February 15, 2010 the Licensing Unit will no longer accept Artisan policies for Registered General Contractor (123 Family) Commercial General Liability Insurance. This includes all certificates with a policy number containing an “ART” prefix or suffix.

If you have previously submitted this type of policy for your registration number, you must submit a new certificate for the appropriate policy.
