Deadline Approaching to Pull Permit:

If your job was at approved status as of June 30, 2008, the permits for the job must be pulled before January 1, 2009 otherwise the "2008 TR1 Required" item (prior-to-permit) and 2008 Code Special and Progress Inspections will be required.

APPLICATIONS: JUNE 30, 2008 THROUGH JULY 1, 2009

  • New Buildings: Applicants may use the 1968 or 2008 Construction Code.
  • Alterations: Applicants may use the pre-1968, 1968 or 2008 Construction Code.
  • APPLICATIONS: AFTER JULY 1, 2009

  • New Buildings: Applicants must use the 2008 Construction Code.
  • Alterations: Applicants may use the pre-1968, 1968 or 2008 Construction Code.
  • New filings under pre-1968 or 1968 Code must comply with certain New Codes requirements: administration (fees, construction document approval, permit issuance, Certificate of Occupancy issuance, Special Inspections, use of materials); enforcement (violations, fines and penalties); and safety (2008 Building Code, Chapter 33).
  • THE NEW PW1: GUIDELINES ACCORDING TO STATUS

  • For all initial, subsequent and amendment filings, only the new PW1 and validated eFiling paperwork printed on or after June 30, 2008 will be accepted.
  • “A/P Entire” Status Prior to June 30: Use the prior Schedule A form; 2008 Building Code occupancy group designations will not be permitted for these applications.
  • “A/P Entire” Status June 30 or After: Use the new Schedule A with the 2008 Building Code Occupancy Group Designations on the “proposed” side of the form. All Schedule B amendments must be filed with the New PW1 and New Schedule B forms.
  • THE NEW TR1: GUIDELINES ACCORDING TO STATUS
    Jobs prior to APPROVED Status: New 2008 TR1

  • The “2008 TR1 Required” required item (prior-to-approval) and 2008 Code Special and Progress Inspection requirements will apply; Controlled Inspections already entered into BIS will automatically be waived; and borings/test pits already received in BIS will not be waived.
  • Jobs at APPROVED Status: Old TR1

  • Current Controlled Inspections TR1 and 1968 Code are required; all permits must be pulled before January 1, 2009. If not, the “2008 TR1 Required” required item (prior-to-permit) and 2008 Code Special and Progress Inspections will be required.
  • Jobs at PERMIT Status: Old TR1

  • Use current Controlled Inspections TR1 and follow 1968 Code requirements through sign off.
  • THE NEW TR1: POST-APPROVAL AMENDMENTS (PAAs)
    PAAs where the scope of work affect inspections must file a 2008 TR1 and follow the 2008 Code.

    SPECIAL INSPECTIONS AGENCY REQUIREMENTS
    No registration required before performing any Special Inspection, Special Inspectors must meet new qualifications and the Special Inspection Agency director must certify the individual and agency are qualified.

    NEW INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
    Special Inspection Agencies must have: professional liability/errors and omissions insurance policy, minimum $500,000; general liability insurance policy, minimum $1 million; and insurance required by the New York State Workers’ Compensation and Disability Law.
